Acropora
Although large die-offs of Acropora have been reported in the Caribbean, Andros has many extensive Acroporid reefs in very good condition. Fish populations are also very abundant, especially herbivorous fish.

bleached reef
Only a few reefs surveyed along Andros in 1998 had heavy bleaching, unlike the extensive bleaching in other parts of the Caribbean and Bahamas in 1998 (photo by Ken Marks © 1998).
