Dominica, known as the Nature Island, is a tall mountainous volcanic island in the Eastern Caribbean covered by tropical rainforests, geothermal hotsprings (Boiling Lake), waterfalls (Trafalgar Falls and Titou Gorge), rivers, and sandy beaches to the northeast.
The Morne Trois Pitons National Park was the first UNESCO World Heritage Site designated in the Eastern Caribbean. The island has a high biodiversity of flora and fauna with the most extensive natural forests in the entire Eastern Caribbean. The steep terrestrial topography is surrounded by a narrow coastal shelf with a variety of coral reefs and coastal areas.
